He is the youngest of five children born to Brenda Olivia “Mardi”, an actress, poet, theater operator, activist, acting teacher, and therapist, and Lewis Arquette, an actor. He has two older brothers, Richmond and Alexis, and two older sisters, Rosanna and Patricia. His paternal grandfather was comedian Cliff Arquette and his mother is Jewish.
Arquette attended elementary school at Fountain Day School in California and high school at Malibu High School. He graduated from the California Institute of the Arts with a degree in fine arts in 1993.
