Adam Savage is an American industrial design and special effects designer, fabricator, actor, educator, and television personality. He is best known as the co-host of the popular Discovery Channel television series MythBusters, which he co-hosted with Jamie Hyneman from 2003 to 2016. Savage is also the former editor-in-chief of the magazine Make: and currently contributes to the column Tested.com.
Early Life
Adam Savage was born on July 15, 1967, in New York City to a father who was a film editor and a mother who was a psychotherapist. He attended the Bronx High School of Science and later attended the Pratt Institute, where he studied industrial design. Savage has stated that he was “raised in an environment of creative tools and materials” and that his father was “a great source of inspiration” in his work.
Professional Career
Savage began his career working in the special effects industry, working on projects such as the film Galaxy Quest and the television series Angel. He also worked as a prop maker for films such as Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. In 2002, Savage and Hyneman were hired as co-hosts for the television series MythBusters, which aired for 14 seasons and more than 250 episodes.
