Liev Schreiber was born in San Francisco, California on October 4, 1967. He is the son of Heather and Tell Schreiber, both of whom were activists. His father was a theatrical actor and director, and his mother was a visual artist. Schreiber attended Friends Seminary, a private Quaker school in Manhattan, and then went on to study at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts. After college, Schreiber moved to London to pursue acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
