Scot Pollard is an American professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for eleven years. He was born on December 5, 1974, in Anderson, Indiana. He is best known for his time with the Indiana Pacers, Sacramento Kings, and Cleveland Cavaliers. Pollard has also appeared on the television show Survivor. He is currently retired from professional basketball and is working as an analyst on ESPN’s NBA Countdown.
Early Life
Pollard was born and raised in Anderson, Indiana. He attended Anderson High School where he was an All-State basketball player and graduated in 1993. He then attended Kansas University, where he was a four-year starter and two-time All-Big 12 selection. During his college career, Pollard was a part of two Final Four teams and a National Championship team in 1998.
Pollard was drafted in the first round of the 1997 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons.
Professional Career
Pollard spent the 1997-98 season with the Pistons before being traded to the Indiana Pacers in 1998. He played with the Pacers for four seasons and was a member of the 2000 Eastern Conference Champions. In 2002, Pollard was traded to the Sacramento Kings, where he enjoyed the best years of his career. He was a part of the 2002-03 Western Conference Champions and was a key contributor off the bench. Pollard was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2006 and played there for two seasons before being released in 2008.
Pollard signed with the Boston Celtics in 2008 but was released shortly after. He then signed with the San Antonio Spurs in 2009 and played in 34 games before being released in 2010. Pollard spent the remainder of his career playing in the NBA D-League.
Post-Retirement Life
Pollard retired from professional basketball in 2011 and began working as an analyst on ESPN’s NBA Countdown. He also appeared as a contestant on the television show Survivor in 2018. Pollard has also been involved in various charity events and is currently a member of the NBA Players Association.
Pollard lives in Arizona with his wife and two children. He is an avid golfer and enjoys spending time with his family.
