Willie Geist is an American television personality, journalist, and author. He is best known for his roles on the NBC’s Today show, where he serves as a co-anchor and host of Sunday Today with Willie Geist. Geist has also worked as a correspondent for NBC’s sports division and MSNBC.
Early Life
Willie Geist was born on May 3, 1975, in Evanston, Illinois. He is the son of Bill Geist and Jody Geist. Geist was raised in Ridgewood, New Jersey and attended Ridgewood High School. He then went on to attend Vanderbilt University, where he graduated with a degree in political science.
While in college, Geist wrote for the student newspaper and was an editor for the school’s literary magazine. He also starred in a number of student-produced plays and was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity.

After graduating from college, Geist began his career in television at CNN, where he worked as a producer for the network’s morning show. He then moved on to MSNBC where he served as a correspondent and anchor. In 2007, Geist was named anchor of MSNBC’s morning show, Morning Joe.
Geist has also served as a correspondent for NBC Sports, covering the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
